SURF was formed in February 1972 by Chambon, with a minority interest by the shipping company Messageries Maritimes and Comex.
The company is based in Marseille and specialized in exploration of the ocean depths and hyperbaric technology.
SURF,s main activity is setting up, equipping and resupplying offshore oil rigs. The company is also involved in piloting and assisting tankers.
SURF is today a subsidiary of Groupe Bourbon.
2000 Sold to Cubana Caribena Naviera, Nueva Gerona, Cuba and renamed BELLAMAR.
Used as a ferry between Isla de La Juventud, the tourist resorts of Cayo Largo, and the mainland of Cuba.
