OESTERREICH steam tug

The last and strongest steam tug built for the Danube Steam Navigation Comp. DDSG on the DDSG yard at Altofen.
Launched under the name OESTERREICH (Austria).
Tonnage 550 ton, dim. 70.2 x 9.0 x 3.1m, bean over paddle boxes 21.5m. draught 1.32m.
Powered by a vertical compound steam engine 1.800 hp.
Crew 28.
1927 completed.

After completion used on the River Danube from Belgrade - Iron gate section.
1931 Converted to oil burning, and hp were increased to 2.500 hp.
1938 renamed in OSTMARK.
1944 Near Orsova gutted by fire and sank.
After the war refloated by Russia government, and repaired for the Russian Shipping Company SDP and renamed STALINGRAD.
Later renamed in VOLGOGRAD.
End 1960 out of service.
