NUESTRA SEÑORA DE LA ENCINA.

This frigate known as BRETAÑA was 24 meters long with a beam of 6 meters, draught 2.20 meters.
Her first voyage to the River Plate commenced in August 1726.
On 15 November 1726 twenty families, native of the Canary Islands who traveled in that vessel, arrived at Montevideo with the purpose of becoming the first inhabitants of the city. They were hundred people, eighty missionaries and twelve Franciscans.
In the following years, NUESTRA SENORA DE LA ENCINA made some other voyages for which no detailed record is kept.
In June 1735, she arrived once more to the River Plate, together with the SAN BRUNO, some days later her crew took possession of a Portuguese vessel called NUESTRA SENORA DEL ROSARIO.
In August 1735, the colony was seized and the Governor of Buenos Aires confiscated the NUESTRO SENORA DE LA ENCINA to fight against the invaders.
In August 1737, while transporting troops and supplies to Montevideo, it stranded on Punta Piedras (San Boromboacute) and she broke her back and was lost.
