Constructed in the Cayman Islands, the schooner was used for transport of passengers, cargo, live turtles and mail to South and North America and other Caribbean islands.
In addition, rope produced in the islands and copra (dried coconut meat for manufacture of cooking oil) was shipped to Jamaica.
Competing in the annual Eastern Regatta, a sight to behold was fifteen to twenty of these elegant vessels riding offshore under full sail, against a backdrop of blue sky.

A popular vessel used for hunting turtles from these islands northwest of Jamaica. Virtually gone by the 1950s. Strongly raked ends; curved stem; either wide transom or counter stern; strong rise to the floors, drag to the keel.
Decked; trunk cabin amidships. On some mast raked aft. Boomed gaff sails, topsails.
