In 1975 the public shipping company Stranfaraskip Landsins decided to buy a 6 year old car ferry from the Danish Molslinjen shipping company. It was renamed SMYRIL and was put into service on the same service as it predecessor. With this large sea-going vessel which is equipped with stabilisers, the service to Suöuroy was reduced to two hours. Now people from Suöuroy could get to Tórshavn and back again on the same day. This fourth SMYRIL still sails today (1999) on the regular service between Suöuroy and Tórshavn, and carries passengers, cargo and mail.


Built as a ro-ro ferry under yard No 181 by Aalborg Værft, Aalborg, Denmark for Mols Linien A/S, Odden Færgehavn, Denmark.
09 May 1968 ordered.
29 October 1968 keel laid down.
10 January 1969 launched as the MORTEN MOLS, three sisters.
Tonnage 2,430 grt, 1,003 net, 803 dwt., dim. 92.66 x 16.72 x 4.17m.
Powered by four 14 cyl. B&W 1426-MTBF-40V diesel engine, total 11,080 bhp., speed 19.5 knots.
Can carry 135 cars, 800 passengers.
Has a bow and stern and two side doors.
01 June 1969 completed.

04 July 1969 in the service from Sjællands Odde to Ebeltoft.
24 March 1975 Sold to Rederi Strandfaraskip Landsin, Tórshave, Faroe Islands and renamed in SMYRIL.
1975 During the summer used in the service between Tórshavn to Seydisfjördur, Iceland also from the Faroe Islands to Scotland – Norway – Denmark.
During the winter season laid up or used for charter work.
19 February 1984 till 07 April 1984 chartered by the P&O Scottish Ferries, Aberdeen, Scotland and used in the service between Aberdeen and Lerwick.
18 May 1991 till 01 August 1991 chartered by Aarhus-Tønsberg Line A/S.
Used in the service between Aarhus and Tönsberg.
Due to the charter company got bankrupt the SMYRIL sailed back to the Faroe Island, where she was laid up.
1992 - 1999 Used in the service between Tórshavn – Suderö – Klaksvik _ Tvörori during the summer.
10 October 1996 last sailing in the service between Aberdeen to Tórshavn, thereafter used in the service around the Faroe Islands.
October 2005 renamed in SMYRIL I.
03 February 2006 sold to Arsea Ltd., St Lucia, with registry port Panama, and renamed SMYRILL.
22 February 2006 sailed from Tórshavn bound for Santa Cruz de Tenerife.
From March 2006 till September 2006 the vessel was moored in Santa Cruz de Tenerife, waiting for papers to approve her new service.
03 September 2006 manager are now D’Orbigny Ship Management, Bordeaux, France and ship was registered in Luxemburg.
September 2006 she sailed from Santa Cruz to the Caribbean.
12 October 2006 used in the service between Pointe a Pitre and Fort de France.
September 2008 Sold to unknown owners in Cap Verde, renamed in ISALITA.
IMO No. 6906529.
