Post by john sefton » Fri Apr 09, 2010 5:05 pm

The "SOLOVEN" was a schooner having two masts. She was built of oak in 1840-1841, some 108 g.r.t., and deemed to be elaborately constructed. She was the last sailing vessel to serve as an Iceland mailboat and she plied as of 1852 until she was lost in a South-Western tempest on November 27th, 1857 with all hands and passengers off Svoertuloft at the Snaefellsnes peninsula.
