ALMIRANTE LATORRE (CL-14) cruiser

Built as a cruiser by the yard of Eriksbergs Mekaniska Verkstads AB, Gothenburg for the Swedish Navy.
27 September 1943 laid down.
17 November 1945 launched as the GÖTA LEJON one sister the TRE KRONER, she were the two last cruisers built for the Swedish Navy.
Displacement 8,332 tons standard, 9,348 tons full load. Dim. 182 x 16.7 x 5.7m.
Powered by two De Laval steam turbines, 100,000 shp., twin shafts, speed 33 knots.
Armament7 – 6 inch, 4 -57mm AA, 11 – 40mm AA guns.
Compl. 610.
15 December 1947 commissioned.

The two sisters were the largest ships ever to serve in the Swedish Navy.
She was reconstructed in 1951/52 and modernized 1958.
01 July 1970 decommissioned, and sold to Chile
10 September 1971 transferred to Chile and rename ALMIRANTE LATORRE (CL-04).
Under Chilean flag she had a armament of 7 – 6 inch guns, 4 – 57/60mm AA guns and 11 MG of 40/70mm., 6 -21 inch torpedo tubes, could carry 160 mines.
28 July 1986 stricken.
15 September 1986 sold to Shiong Yek Steel Corporation, Taiwan for scrapping.
