STORSKAR
ex STRANG NAS EXPRESS, screw steamer, operator Waxholms Angtartygs AB. Built 1908 Lindholmen, GOteborg; 236 Gt, 38.9m x 7m, 418 passengers.
Machinery, triple expansion 560hp, 13 knots. New boiler 1976. Route Stockholm-Ramsobeng (mid-day)-Ljustro (evenings)-Husaro (weekends).
Built for service on Lake Malar from Stockholm to the town of Strangnas she was sold to the Waxholm company and renamed In 1939. She sailed In the northern part of the archipelago, and was converted to oil firing In 1953.
When the company failed In 1964 a new local government controlled company was founded.
Fastest steamer In the area her sailings cover many small jetties (17 on her evening trip) . As the companies routes are part of the pubic transport network, some cargo is carried, and fares being subsidised, are also very cheap compared to prices generally In Sweden.
