GENERAL SWIERCZEWSKI
Paddle steamer , built River Shipyard, Plock 1914-1919, 56.1m x 5.9/10.6m, 465 passengers, 100 berths.
Amazingly named TITANIC while on the stocks, laid down 1914 but not completed until 1918 because of the war.
In use on the Vistula as the STANISLAW until sunk In 1944.
Rebuilt after the war and given present name.
Rebuilt again In 1957 and In 1963, withdrawn from service about 1976.
It would appear from photographs that the large deckhouses were added at the last rebuild.
Operated on the Warsaw to Gdansk overnight service but has not run In recent years because of low water levels.
Laid up since Withdrawal at Jadwisin on Lake Zegrzyn.

Article by IDUHAUT and published in Log Book August 1992.
Detail from the book "Steamships of Europe" by Alistair Deayton.
