Built by Connell & Co. at Scotstoun, Glasgow, and launched in October 1915, as H.M.S. GLADIOLUS. Displacement 1250 tons. Length 263' 6". beam 33' 6". mean draft 10' 0".
Triple expansion engines, 2,200 i.h.p. Speed 17 knots. Range 2,000 miles at 15 knots. Crew numbers 79. Armed with two 4 inch guns and two 3—pdr. .A.A guns.
Ship was built under the British Emergency War Programme as a unit of the “Azalea" group of sloops.
Sold to Portugal in 1920, and renamed.
