Built 1951 by Taikoo T&E Co., Hong Kong.
Gross tonnage 5578. et 3024 tons. Overall length 418ft 4ins. Breadth 56ft 8in, draught 22ft 6ins.
Powered by oil engines 2SA 4 cyl of 4500bhp, giving a speed of 15 knots.
Managers John Swire & Sons Ltd.,
Older editions of Ocean Ships state her gross tonnage as 6,224. In 1964 6,160gt and 1971 5,578gt indicating that she must have been re-measured after her surveys.

Built as a cargo- passenger vessel under yard No333 by Taikoo Dockyard & Eng. Co., Hong Kong for the China Navigation Co Ltd., London (managed by John Swire & Sons Ltd.)
Launched as the ANSHUN.
Tonnage 6,224 gross, 3,312 net, 5,167 dwt. Dim. 418.4 x 56.6 x 21.0ft. (draught)
Powered by a 4-cyl. Doxford diesel engine, 4,500 bhp., speed 15 knots.
Accommodation for 50 first class and around 1,000 tweendeck passengers.
January 1951 completed.

She was built for the Hong Kong – Singapore-Malaysia trade but could carry also pilgrims to Saudi Arabia.
1955 Was she shelled by Egyptian shore batteries at the entrance to the Gulf of Akaba. Accused of being in Egyptian territorial waters.
1961 The China Navigation Co. opened two new lines to Australia, one from Hong Kong – Singapore – Penang and Belawan to Fremantle, and an other from Hong Kong via Manila – Port Moresby and Rabaul to Sydney en Melbourne, later extended with ports in Taiwan and Japan. The ANSHUN was used in both services.
Every year was she used for 5 till 6 months in the pilgrim trade to Jeddah.
At the end of the 1960s most of the pilgrims were transported by the cheaper airlines and the ANSHUN became uneconomical for the company.

1971 Sold to Pan-Islamic Steam Navigation Company in Pakistan, renamed SAFINE-E-ABID.
Again in the pilgrim trade now between Pakistan and Jeddah, or transported workmen from Karachi to the Persian Gulf states.
1978 Transferred to the Pakistan Shipping Corp.
1979 Transferred to the Pakistan National Shipping Corp.
1980 Transferred again to the Pan-Islamic Steamship Co. Ltd.
1989 Tonnage given as 5,578 gross, 3,024 net, 5,324 dwt.
15 September 1989 sailed from Karachi to Jeddah.

26 May 1991 arrived at Gadani Beach, Pakistan for demolition by Dewan Sons.
