At least I found some info on the BÉARN thanks to Mr. David Asprey who did my give a little hint, The storey is not complete but when you have a begin maybe some others can supply more info on the ship.
She was built as a US Army mine planter craft by the Defoe Boat & Motor Works, at Bay City in 1921; she was one of a series of eight mine planters built on this yard for the US Army between 1919-1921.
Length 98ft by a beam of 22ft.
When over complete she was sold to the French Government most probably in 1935 as given on the MS, and fitted out as a tug. Tonnage 168 gross, 36 net. Based at St Pierre et Miquelon.
One compound 2 cyl. steam engine, manufactured by Ordnance Co., Denver, hp?, speed ?.
From 1942 till 1945 in use as a Coast Guard vessel at St Pierre et Miquelon.
1952 Sold to Guard Salvage & Wrecking Co. Ltd., Halifax, Canada but registered by Sydney J. Simon at Cardiff U.K., renamed in ESTELLE S.
