This tug was built in the United Kingdom in 1976 for the Gilbert Islands Development Authority Port Division. She is exclusively used in towing cargo lighters within Tarawa lagoon. She is also used as pilot to take a harbour pilot out to vessels which required this service. When the Authority devolved she was passed on to the Shipping Corporation and is still used on the same work above.
