Built as an iron hulled paddle steamer by Ditchburn & Mare at Blackwall on the Thames for the South Of England Steam Navigation Co., who in 1847 passed to the New South-Western S.P. Co.
Launched as the DISPATCH. Two sisters the COURIER and EXPRESS.
Tonnage 320 gross, dim. 166.7 x 22.1 x 11.5ft.
Powered by a 2-cyl steam engine, manufactured by Maudslay in Deptford, speed maximum 15 knots.
1847 Completed.

After completing used in the service between Southampton and Le Havre or to the Channel Islands.
1885 Converted in a coal hulk, Her dim. given as 171.0 x 23.7 x 10.9ft.
About five years later broken up.
