SCH type (SCHUKA) X-BIS submarine

Type SCH (Schuka) class submarine X-BIS.
The first of this class was built around 1930, and the class was designed for ocean-going duties, and some alternations were made. There were plan to build up to 200 submarines but due to the war only 91 boats were built in the three main series, on seven Russian yards.
Displacement 620 ton surfaced, 740 ton submerged. Dim. 59 x 6 x 4m.
Powered diesel electric 1.600 hp surfaced, 800 submerged, speed 14/8 knots.
Range 4.000 surfaced, 100 submerged.
Armament 1 - 45mm gun, four bow and 2 stern tubes 533mm, carried 10 torpedoes.
Crew 40.

The class was built till the end of World War II, and continual improvements were made in the design.
During the war 35 of this type were lost.
