HMS PENELOPE. Light cruiser, 5270 tons. 6-6", 8-4" A/A guns. Built by Harland & Wolff, 15/10/1935. Served with distinction in World War II from 1939 to February 1944, gaining 8 battle honours and after the Norway campaign earned the nickname of the "Pepperpot", when her funnels and sides were full of holes after attacks by enemy aircraft. She finally met her end on 18th February 1944 when she was torpedoed by 'V-410' off Anzio. 24 officers and 391 men out of a complement of 500 were lost.

HMS PENELOPE. Frigate, 'Leander' class, 2860 tons with
4 exocet missiles, 3 sea cat missile systems, 2-40mm guns 6 T.T. and 1 Lynx helicopter. Built by Vickers Armstrong on the Tyne 17/8/1962. Sailed in Hay 1982 for Falklands, taking part in closing stages of Battle of Falklands.
