BOLTENHAGEN cargo vessel 1970

The vessel depict on this East German stamp was the first vessel of type 299; altogether 24 vessels of this type were built.
She was a coastal container feeder for the transportation of containers over a short distance.

Built as a cargo vessel under yard No 271 by VEB Elbewerft at Boizenburg for the Deutsche Seereederei (Deutfracht) at Rostock, East Germany.
16 December 1969 launched as the BOLTENHAGEN.
Tonnage 299 grt, 137 net, 780 dwt., dim. 57.8 x 10.3 x 5.8m.
Powered by an 8-cyl. Karl Liebknecht diesel engine, 1,160 bhp., speed 12 knots.
One hold, capacity 1,580 square meter. Gearless.
Vessel built of this type from 1971 have 2 x 3 tons cranes for loading and discharging.
Crew 7-8.
20 October 1970 delivered to owners.

1992 Sold to Seatrading Co A/S Norway, she was registered at Honduras, and renamed REMITO.
01 June 1994 after a failure of the main engine, she drifted ashore near Stad in a position 62 13 N 05 10E on a voyage from Midsundmore to Great Yarmouth.
Declared a total loss.
