M.V. LEON THEVENIN She is a cableship, built for Cie. Francaise des Cables Sousmarins at Toulon (France) by Soc. Nouvelle des At. & Ch. du Havre at Le Havre (France) in 1983. Her tonnage (OSD/CSD) is gross 3988/4844, net 979/1264 and Dwt. 2800/3170. Her dimensions are 107.83m x 17.81m x 5.90/6.27m (draught) x 9.02m (depth). She has three 8 cylinder diesels (5180 bhp) driving 3 generators (each 1200 Kw a.c.) connected to 2 electro motors (each of 1930 shp). Her speed is 15 knots. She has 1 Thwart controllable thrust propeller forward and 1 aft.

LEON THEVENIN
Based at Toulon on Atlantic maintenance duties. Helped recover wreckage including the cockpit voice recorder of the AIR INDIA Boeing 747 crash in 1985.
