Post by aukepalmhof » Tue Aug 10, 2010 10:03 pm

Built by Daniel Le Vesconte of First Tower, Jersey for Chas. Robin & Co.
14 April 1866 launched under the name CENTURY, named to commemorate the centenary of the founding of C. Robin & Co.
Tonnage 186 tons, dim. 107.3 x 21.2 x 12.6ft (draught)
Brigantine rigged.

On her maiden voyage from Caspé, Canada under command of Capt. Amice Moignard to Rio de Janeiro, she was caught in a hurricane and dismasted.
After her repairs she was used by Robin & Co. in the triangle run from Jersey to Gaspé and South America.
Robin & Co. did have an office in Gaspé, and in October 1898 the CENTURY stranded in Val Bay, Gaspé and was lost. At that time she was still under command of Capt. Moignard. (an other source gives lost in 1896.)
