The depicted ceremonial Royal Barge is the SUPHANNAHONG and she was built in 1911 during the reign of King Mongkutklao (Rama VI), deriving the name from the Royal Barge SRI SUPHANNAHONG which was built in the reign of King Phra Buddhayodfa Chulalok the Great (Rama I).
Rear Admiral Phraya Rajsongkram (Korn Hongsakula) was the naval architect of the Royal Barge.
SUPHANNAHONG as barge of the Royal Barge Ging class. The bow is made into a head of the Royal Swan or Hamsa, gold-lacquer painted and richly decorated with glass ornaments.
The hull is painted black outside and red inside.
She is 46.15 meters in length, 3.17 meters beam and the depth of the hull is 94 centimetres, with a draught of 41 centimetres. Displacement 15 tons.
Her driving power of 3.50 meters per one stroke of 50 oarsmen with two steersmen, two officers fore and one aft. One standard bearer, one signalman, one chanter and seven Royal Regalia bearers.
Her present location is at Bangkok, Thailand, and the owner from new building till now is the Government of Thailand. She is afloat and restored.
She is the largest of the 50 Royal Barges.
