ALMIRANTE RIVEROS was laid down as a multipurpose frigate TJERK HIDDES (F830) on 28 October 1986 and launched on 9 December 1989. The TJERK HIDDES was named after a 17th century Dutch Admiral Tjerk Hiddes de Vries. She was the sixth navy ship under that name in the Dutch Navy.
She was commissioned into the Dutch Navy on 3 December 1992.
Decommissioned on 3 February 2006.
