From a German ship stamp collector I got the following information on the Czechoslovakia stamp issued in 1982 sg 2643, he believes that the paddle steamer on the stamp is the FRANZ I, and comparing the stamp with images of the vessel he is correct she is the FRANZ I.

Parnik, as given by ATA Handbook 117 is wrong, parnik means steamer in the Czech. language.
The year 1818 given on the stamp is not correct at that time the paddle steamer the first vessel on the Danube was the CAROLINA, but she is a completely different vessel from the vessel depicted on the stamp. https://pestbuda.hu/en/cikk/20200713_th ... _years_ago

The following illustrations make it clear that the paddle steamer on the stamp cannot be the CAROLINA, although the year 1818 is given on the stamp, it can only be the FRANZ I., which made its first trip in 1830. The designer of the stamp has taken certain liberties, but the proportions of the ship, the funnel, the masts, the number of windows are consistent, but overall there are more similarities that allow the conclusion that it is the side paddle steamer FRANZ I, which passed Bratislava (then Pressburg) on its maiden voyage in 1830. In the background, you can clearly see the Pressburg Castle.
