FRANZ I paddlesteamer 1830

Built as a wooden paddle steamer by the Joseph-Rouston Werft in Florisdorf, Austria for the First Danube Steamship Company (DDSG), Vienna, Austria.
26 July 1830 launched.
Dim. 45.7 x 6.2 (over paddles 13.20m) x 1.1m (draught)
Two Boulton & Watt, Co., side-lever steam engines, 60 hp, speed 9 km/h.
She was the first ship for the DDSG.
17 September 1830 made her maiden voyage from Vienna to Budapest, downstream in 15 hour and 23 minutes and upstream 48 hour and 32 minutes.
1833 A new boiler was fitted in the old on did not supply enough steam.
1841 The wooden hull was replaced by an iron hull on the DDSG Obuda shipyard.
1848 Sold to the Hungarian National Government for 60,000 Gulden, refitted in a gunship on the DDSG yard in Obuda. Armament 8 – 6pdrs, 2 – 12 pdrs and 2 – 7 pdr. guns.
Renamed in MEZAROS.
25 July 1848 commissioned.
19 August 1848 she came in battle against Croatian troops, 13 October 1848 she arrived at Hainburg, but due to early beginning of the winter she was forced to retreat to the DDSG yard in Obuda.
By an attack of Imperial forces under command of Prince Alfred I during the winter of 1848/1849 the MEZAROS was on 05 January 1849 seized.
Renamed in GENERAL SCHLICK.
During the spring of 1849 she came to Vienna, but despite the peace after the victory over Hungary the GENERAL SCHLICK was not disarmed but she became the first unit of the new formed Danube Flotilla.
1850 The new formed Danube Flotilla was based at Pest.
1854 The GENERAL SCHLICK was decommissioned.
1899 Refitted in a barge with No A-7.
Fate unknown. Navicula gives, 1918 lost.
