ANDROMACHE (605)

Post by aukepalmhof » Thu Sep 01, 2011 8:07 pm

Built as a patrol vessel by Cantieri Picchiotti at Viareggio, Italy for the Seychelles Navy.
Displacement 268 tons full load. Dim. 41.8 x 8 x 2.5m.
Two Paxman Valenta 16CM diesels, 6,650 hp., twin shafts, speed 26 knots.
Armament 1 Oerlikon 20mm, 2 – 7.62mm MGs.
Crew 22
1983 Commissioned under the name ANDROMACHE (605). (Stanley Gibbons gives the name ANDROMANCHE but all internet sites give the ships name ANDROMACHE
Based at Victoria, Mahe.

Used for patrol, fishery protection, search, and rescue, and as an anti-pirate patrol vessel in the Seychelles waters.
2014 She had a major refit in Colombo, Sri Lanka.

The Seychelles Coast Guard on Tuesday 21 July 2021 sold one of its long-serving patrol ships, the ANDROMACHE, in an auction held on the Seychelles People's Defence Forces (SPDF) compound in Mahe. She was bought by the local businessman Roy Dinan for US$ 21,500.

Dinan was not sure what to do with the vessel, he told me that his possession was a military boat and that there are so many options, I can sell it for scrap, or I can turn it into a restaurant, or a mobile recording studio, etc.
2023 I can't find a trace more of the vessel, so most probably scrapped.
Her MMSI is 664302000, not an IMO No given.
