ARCADIA. Passenger. Built by John Brown & Co. Clydebank. Yard No 675. Launched 14 May 1953. Completed Feb. 1954. Built for P&O Lines.
L721'. B91'. Dr32'. 29,734Gt. 2 screws driven by two sets of 3 Parsons geared steam turbines from Builders. 42,500shp. 21 knots (max over 25kn).
Passengers 675 first class and 735 tourist class. Crew 710.
Built for Australia service. Maiden-voyage London-Sydney February 22, 1954. First voyage London-Sydney-Transpacific-London, 19th October 1959/1960 29,664GRT. 1967 29,871 GRT. Broken up 1979. Qatar 1974 10d SG503 (Woad T Broadley. TB 1963)

NOTE: In Sea Breezes No.10. 1974 Argyle has her identified as IBERIA. Ian R. Fisher identifies her as IBERIA in his booklet 'Ocean going Passenger & Cruise Liners'. J. Skinner thinks she is the IBERIA but the funnel is different. ARCADIA had a domed top to her funnel whereas the IBERIA had an almost flat top with a small cut out in the front. The stems were also different, flat top with a small cut out in the front. The sterns were also different.
