GRAND ST LOUIS. French warship. 56 guns. Built in the Netherlands for the French Navy in 1629. In commission until 1652. 1200tn. burthen - French Wartime Issue 1942. 80c.1f 50. 4f. 5f. Issued for the 300th Anniversary of the acquisition of Isle de Bourbon. NC (Woad)

Should be "le Taureau" (the bull) a fleet of 22 gunfires, according French post.

The correct name of the vessel is SAINT LOUIS in which Jacques de Pronis arrived in Madagascar in 1642, more is given on:

On the stamp of Franch and Reunion issued in 1965 is the Le TAUREAU depict. see: viewtopic.php?f=2&t=7548&p=17775&hilit=taureau#p17775
