Keel laid October 1988. Launched 9th December 1993. Commissioned 16th April 1994. The trustees of the Australian National Maritime Museum suggested in 1986 that a full scale museum replica be constructed to be the centrepiece of their floating collection. With corporate sponsorship, a specially designed shipyard was constructed in Freemantle, Western Australia. Work began Jan 1988. Constructed as close as possible to the original ENDEAVOUR and to the same specifications and to standards certified by the Nation Maritime Museum, Greenwich and the Australian National Maritime Museum. The differences that exist were necessary to meet modern safety standards and to ensure the longest life possible for the vessel. During 1994, she operated out of Freemantle. She began a circumnavigation of Australia on 2nd October 1994 arriving at Sydney on 18th December 1994. She was on exhibition at the Australian National Maritime Museum until 1996 after which she will complete her circumnavigation and return to Freemantle for refit before sailing to England
