DETTIFOSS container ship

Post by aukepalmhof » Tue Mar 04, 2014 7:53 pm

Iceland issued in 2014 a mint sheet with a container ship on it, identified by Mr Rodlie and Crichton as the DETTIFOSS. By enlarging the sheet the ships-name is visible.
The Iceland post gives by the stamp:
International voyages are an important part of Iceland’s economy. The share of the fishing industry in this transport is high. In earlier times Icelanders were dependent on others in sea transport which put severe limitations on commerce and cultural exchange. Later Icelandic shipping companies offered a full range of transport services around the world based on reliable and efficient transport system. These carriers constitute one of the pillars of society and play an important role.
