Re: Lady Dale (River Boat)
I found in the book Physic and Philanthropy: A History of the Welcome Trust 1936 – 1986.
The 60ft vessel was built in Brightlingsea in Essex, U.K. for the Welcome Trust for use on the river Gambia in Gambia as a transport launch and floating laboratory.
September 1958 launched as the LADY DALE.
Length 60ft, built of African mahogany, sheeted with copper.
Fitted out with two diesel engines.
Cost £26,000 including the transport cost to Gambia.
May 1973 sold to the United Nations for £5,000, not any information more.
