Re: JIAN (China)
UPDATE.
I did some research in this stamp, the name given to the ship was JIAN, but that is not correct, the JIAN, Miramar gives JIAN HUA ex the French FOCH.
FOCH was sold in 1967 to China, while the stamp issues was in 1957, also the stamp was issued with an image of a complete different ship as the FOCH.
I could not find a ships name, so the vessel on the stamp stays as unknown.
Below is given what I found on the stamp issues.
The Yellow River is the second largest river in China. It originates from the Yugu Zonglie Canal at the eastern foot of the Yala Daze Mountain in the Bayankala Mountains in Qinghai. It flows through Qinghai, Sichuan, Gansu, Ningxia, Inner Mongolia, Shaanxi, Shanxi, Henan, Shandong and other provinces and regions, and flows into the Bohai Sea east of Lijin, Shandong. It is 4,845 kilometers long and has a drainage area of about 750,000 square kilometers. The Yellow River flows through the Loess Plateau, and there are many heavy rains in summer, which leads to serious soil erosion and the sand content ranks first among the rivers in the world. The riverbed in the lower reaches is higher than the ground on both sides, becoming a "river on the ground". Therefore, the Yellow River often floods, and there have been as many as 21 major diversions in history. The water, drought and soil erosion in the Yellow River Basin over the years have caused great losses to the lives, property and agricultural production of the people along the river. In July 1955, the Second Session of the First National People's Congress of the People's Republic of China passed the resolution on the "Comprehensive Plan for Eliminating the Flood Hazards of the Yellow River and Developing the Water Conservancy of the Yellow River". This plan is divided into two parts: the long-term plan and the first phase plan. According to this plan, the Yellow River will benefit mankind. The Chinese people are delighted by this.
This set of stamps has 4 stamps, with orange, blue, red and green as the background colors.
The fourth stamp is shipping. In the mid-1950s, the Yellow River was only navigable for 160 kilometers. The schematic diagram uses the depiction method of topographic maps, which is full of three-dimensionality and reflects the huge scale of the Yellow River governance and comprehensive development and utilization project.
4-3 is "navigation". The pattern shows the long-term shipping scene of the Yellow River governance. According to the long-term plan, 46 dams will be built on the main stream of the Yellow River and ship passing devices will be installed. The water volume in the middle and lower reaches of the Yellow River can be adjusted as needed to achieve full navigation. A 500-ton tugboat can sail from the estuary all the way to Lanzhou. In the pattern, a spectacular passenger ship is sailing against the wind on the surface of the Yellow River, symbolizing the bright prospects for the governance and development of the Yellow River. The background is a sky with floating white clouds and a low horizon, which sets off the majestic appearance of the ship.
