ANGLESEY

On the stamp is given British ANGLESEY but the name of the ship depict is ANGLESEY.
Built as a wooden full rigger by R & L Green at Blackwall near London for their own account.
Launched as ANGLESLEY.
Tonnage 965 ton underdecks 1018 tons, dim. 182 x 34 x 22ft.
Carried a figurehead representing the Earl of Anglesey.
1852 Completed. Homeport London.

She was used in the Blackwall Line of Packets of Green in the emigrant trade to Australia, in which she was one of the fastest Blackwallers special in light airs. Mostly she made one round voyage between London and Australia every year,
05 April 1871 under command of Captain J. Maddison she made a record run from London to Melbourne for a Blackwaller, she arrived on 21st June, The passage from Start Point Light to Port Phillip she made in 72 days. Her return voyage to London she made in 79 days.
1874 Green sold her and the next year she was sold to foreign buyers.
1883 Out of the ship registers, fate unknown.
