Lighthouse Keeper’s Daughter

Post by Arturo » Thu Dec 11, 2014 9:14 pm

Lighthouse keper Lucas Houguez spent some 18 years on the Casquets with his family, eventually being moved to Aldeney for health reasons.

Before this happened, however, his daughter had visited relatives on the neighboring island but, according to Swinburne’s “les casquettes” she could not stand the pace of life; “the bustling world” she said “is all too full of trouble and of noise.“

The stamp shows her rowing home to peace and tranquility.
