Built in 1924-'25 by Hawthorn, Lesley & Co., Newcastle, #534, for P&O Line, Newcastle.
Passengership Gt:16.738, Nt:8850, Loa:173,70m. Lbpp:167,13m. B:21,74m. Depth:14,33m. Draught:? 6 boilers, two quadruple expansion engines: 15.000 hp. 2 screws, 17 kn. passengers 1st. class:310, 2nd. class:290, crew:357.
29-07-1925 service London - Bombay.
In 1939 at Bombay converted into an auxiliary cruiser, 2nd chimney removed. 03-1943 conversion into troopship, 03-1947 till 06-1948 conversion into one class emigrant ship at Harland & Wolff, Belfast, Gt:16.974, pass:950, service to Australia, 1953 sold for scrap to British Iron Steel Corp. , Newport, for £ 200,000.
