New Caledonia issued in 1968 one stamp of 3F for the “Stamp Day” which shows us the ferry across the Tontouta River in New Caledonia around 1900.

In 2017 so far I could find on the internet, only the pontoon ferry at La Quaiéme is in service.

The Tontouta is also a pontoon ferry with a bow and stern ramp, but she is not motorized, but pulled by a cable across the river as seen on the stamp, where two men pulled her across the river.
She carries a mail truck.
Have not any details on her, most probably locally built, fate unknown.
