Ukraine is attacked by Russia and my thoughts and prayers are with the civilian people of Ukraine.
Nowadays, the coat of arms is often depicted in a frame-cartouche, adopted in modern Ukrainian heraldry for city coats of arms.
On August 3, 2011, the coat of arms of Bolgrad was considered and approved at a meeting of the heraldic board at the Bolgrad City Council. On July 18, 2011, the Heraldic Commission under the Bolgrad District Council adopted decision No. 14 on the coat of arms of the city. The project of the coat of arms was also supported by the regional heraldic commission. As it was said: "the board supported the decision of the Bolgrad City Council to adopt a new coat of arms, but at the same time recommended to consider the possibility of returning the old coat of arms, which was adopted in 1932." The coat of arms and the flag of the city was finally approved by the Decision of the Bolgrad City Council dated August 4, 2011 No. 292-VI "On approval of the symbols of the city of Bolgrad in the Odessa region"
The symbolism of the emblematic figures
The Orthodox Spaso-Preobrazhensky Cathedral was built-in 1838 in memory of the exit of the Transdanubian settlers from Turkish possession under the Russian state.
The boat is a symbol of the salvation of the Bulgarians who found shelter on the lands of Bessarabia in the 19th century, the successful achievement of the goal, Lake Yalpug, on the bank of which the city is located. The shield of the coat of arms is located in a golden decorative cartouche topped with a silver city crown.
Description of the coat of arms
In the crossed shield rounded downwards on the upper scarlet field - a golden cathedral, on the lower azure field - a golden boat with an oar, directed heraldically to the right.
The shield of the coat of arms is located in a gold decorative cartouche topped with a silver city crown. In the upper part, the cartouche is decorated with oak branches and acorns, in the lower part, branches of a vine are placed.
The content (charter) of the coat of arms.
The coat of arms of the city of Bolgrad, Odessa region, is compiled taking into account the historical, socio-economic, natural features and traditions of the city and the requirements of heraldic rules for municipal symbols and is an external attribute of local government.
The azure color of the shield symbolizes the water surface of Lake Yalpug, the connection of times, the desire for justice, kindness, and philanthropy.
The scarlet color of the shield is a hereditary symbol of Bessarabia and takes into account the content of the symbols of the Bolgrad region, symbolizing love, generosity, courage.
