OPEN BOAT FROM ECKERÖ

Eckero fishing boats: .... have always played a dominant role in the life of the Aland people. For a long time, they were almost the only means of transport for the people living in the archipelago and every household had several boats.
Boats were used for net fishing on the open sea, for transporting cattle, and for shopping and market trips to larger towns. These fishing boats were also used to transport mail across the Aland Sea. All boats had one constructive quality in common...they were open.
