AIR SEA RESCUE = SPEEDBOOT

Post by aukepalmhof » Mon Jan 09, 2023 8:40 pm

When lives are threatened, it’s usually a job for one or more of New Zealand’s rescue services.

Issue information

New Zealand’s rescue services provide the country with an important safety net, including well-trained people who are dedicated to the task of rescuing others.
The danger comes in many forms. Fire, flood, earthquake, cyclone, and far too often human error, all pose a threat to people’s safety. Yet whatever the circumstances and whatever the location, there is a rescue service ready to spring into action.
This stamp issue featured eight of New Zealand's rescue organizations. Each stamp carried a strong illustration of rescue services at work.
All these organizations share a common purpose - saving lives.

One stamp of the $1 of the air-sea rescue shows us a watercraft. I have tried to figure out what kind of boat is depicted, it looks like a speed-boat, fitted with an outboard motor but if this boat was used by the sea rescue is doubtful, all the small boats in use by the sea rescue have at least two man on board, while the stamp shows only one man.
The sea rescue is now (2023) operated and managed by the New Zealand coast guard.
