Post by aukepalmhof » Thu Nov 02, 2023 1:57 am

The hybrid ferry MF SVELVIK took over the route between Svelvik and Verket in 2022 after MF SVELVIKSUND was retired from service after 43 years. The crossing over the 184 metre wide strait in Drammensfjord takes roughly 5 minutes, making this the shortest ferry crossing in Norway.

From 1 January 2022, Brakar took over the operation of the ferry connection Svelvik-Verket.
Bastø Fosen is the operator. The ferry is electric, and has space for 30 passenger cars, alternatively three 19.5 meter wagon trains and some passenger cars. The passenger capacity is 99 people, and there is seating for 60 indoors.
The crossing takes approx. 5 minutes, and you can sit in the car along the way if you wish. It is not possible to book a place on the ferry in advance.
The ferry is universally designed in collaboration with Norway's Handikapforbund and the Blind Association. All passenger facilities are located on one deck, with no stairs or lift. On deck, two of the parking spaces are reserved for people with reduced mobility, and the ferry is also equipped with an HC toilet.
