The Japanse post issued a sheet in 2024 with 10 stamps of which one has a maritime theme
The stamp issues is given as “Culture to leave for future generations.”

The maritime stamps shows two “tarai-bune” sculled by ladies,
Of the tarai-bune is given by Aak to Zumbra.

Tarai-bune used in Japan is a wooden tub-like craft reportedly used by fishermen in some areas of north-western Japan,
Flat bottom, planked longitudinally sides, planked vertically and hooped like a cask with bamboo or rattan.
Sculled from the stern with a long paddle held against a grooved cleat on the gunwale and secured by a rope loop.
Length 1.8m. Beam 1.4m, depth 0.6m.
