Post by aukepalmhof » Tue Oct 22, 2024 8:51 pm

The Estonia Post issued one stamp of 2.60 Euro in 2024. Below is given information on the from the Estonia Post web site.

It was Saturday, May 29 at 6:45 p.m. A blue-gray palaka fell from the hull, revealing the yacht's proud name. A bottle of champagne was thrown against the bow of a ship that was designed to withstand much tougher challenges on the world's seas
In the period 16.10.1999 - 19.03.2001, the yacht LENNUK covered 37,962 nautical miles - 70,306 km on its round-the-world trip. In a year and five months, the globe was circled one and three-quarter times. Carrying the blue and white flag of Estonia around the world on board the yacht named after the national epic meant a sign of liberation for a large part of the nation, which gave thousands of people the opportunity to take part in this journey on a daily basis through modern communication channels.
Did you know? The LENNUK was the first ship sailing under the Estonian flag to travel around the world using only natural waterways. The round-the-world voyage took the crew a total of 49 ports, 25 islands and 21 countries, taking 527 days to complete the journey.
