The Dato (until 1930 Eduardo Dato) was a gunboat of the Spanish Navy belonging to the Cánovas del Castillo class, built by the Spanish Society of Naval Construction in the shipyards of Cartagena. It participated in the civil war in support of the rebel side.
Launched July 10, 1923
Commissioned May 23, 1925
Decommissioned(Scrapped) July 12, 1953

The Dato participated in the convoy of military rebels against the Republic on August 5, 1936, but the troop transfer was intercepted in the Strait of Gibraltar by the destroyer Alcalá Galiano. The convoy left Ceuta at 4:45 p.m. carrying 1,600 men bound for Algeciras. When the Alcalá Galiano attempted to cut off its passage, the Dato, supporting the operation with 19 aircraft, bombed it and forced it to abandon its mission.
