Senor Padran Albornos, of Teneriffe, informs me that the l0pts. Spanish Morocco stamp illustrates the small Spanish coasting vessel Arango. This vessel was in convoy with other Spanish ships escorted by the gunboat Dato, when on August 5, 1936, running with Colonial troops from Ceuta to Cadiz, the convoy was attacked near the latter port by the destroyer 241cala Galiano. While the naval vessels kept up the engagement the convoy slipped safely into Cadiz. Both warships were damaged. The Arango was employed later in transporting spirit in barrels from Teneriffe to Spain.
