1969 Bulgaria issued a stamp of cr 1 which showed us a sterntrawler of the Tropik type. Which trawler is depicted is unknown, but five were built for Bulgarian account by Volkswerft Stralsund, Stralsund, at that time East Germany. The first ship built for Bulgaria was the ALBATROS.

The Tropik type was 2.452 grt, 1.070 net, 849dwt., dim. 79.79 x 13.21 x 7.2m. (draught)

The other four were the FENIX, BUREVESTNIK, PELIKAN and TCHAIKA.

The ships were managed by Okeansky Ribolov.
She were mostly used in the waters off Cape Blanc, Mauritania for mackerel fishing.

ALBATROS built in 1964, scrapped by MEC Shipbreakers Ltd. Gadani Beach in 1984, commenced scrapping on 19 May 1984, she had arrived there the day before.
