FEMBØRING sailing vessel

FEMBØRING is a open clinker built wooden boat made of spruce of pine wood, she is found from Trondheim northward, first used to carry cargo or expedition ship, but after 1830 became more important for fishing.
She was originally with five (fem) strakes per side, a long keel.
Rudder worked with a single-arm yoke and a long, slender tiller.
There were with a turtleback cabin aft, which could be left behind ashore when fishing.
Rowed with 8 – 12 oars.
Carried a large square sail with often a topsail on a pole mast stepped almost amidships of the craft.
