ROGALIN ferry

Built as a ro-ro ferry under yard No 126 by the French yard of Dubegion-Normandie S.A. Nantes.
Original ordered by Oy Siljavarustamo/Ab Siljarederiet, Åbo, but during a reorganization transferred to Suomen Höyrylavia Oy/Finska Ångfartygs Ab, Helsingfors, Finland.
29 March 1971 the contract was signed.
23 July 1971 launched under the name AALLOTAR (means, vagorna daughter.)
Tonnage 7.800 grt, 3.765nrt, 1.250dwt. Dim. 126.79 x 19.54 x 5.15m.
Powered by two SEMT Pielstick 16 PC2V-400 diesel engines, 16.000hp., speed 21.0 knots.
Passenger accommodation for 948 passengers, of which 412 were berthed.
Could carry 146 cars. One bow and one stern ramp.
17 February 1972 delivered to owners. Building price 65 million SwK.

28 February 1972 arrived for the first time in Helsingfors.
29 Feb. 1972 used in the Silja Line ferry service between Helsingfors and Stockholm, Sweden.
21 Dec. 1972 steering engine failure, and she came in collision with the breakwater at Brevik, Lidingo.

1975 Used in the ferry service from Åbo-Mariehamn to Stockholm.
01 October 1977 chartered by the Polska Zegluga Baltycka Kolobrzeg, Poland and used in the ferry service between Helsingfors to Gdansk.
10 May 1978 sold to the Polish charter company and renamed ROGALIN, thereafter used in the ferry service between Ystad –Swinoujscie-Helsingfors-Gdansk and Copenhagen.

September 1979 by sailing off Porkala she came in collision with the Dutch tanker CORAL RUBRUM, with minor damage.
03 May 1982 in the ferry service from Copenhagen to Travemünde.
29 May 1983, chartered by the Faraskip H/F, Reykjavik, Iceland, renamed in EDDA and used in the service from Reykjavik-Newcastle-Bremerhaven.
19 Sept. 1983 renamed in ROGALIN.
31 Dec. 1985 used for cruising from Stettin to London.
April 1987 till Dec. 1987 chartered by the Swansea-Cork Trading, Ireland, renamed CELTIC PRIDE, and used in the service from Swansea to Cork.
April 1988 till December 1988, again chartered by the same company.
December 1988 renamed ROGALIN.
01 March 1991 till 01 Nov. 1992 chartered by the Swansea-Cork Trading , Ireland, and renamed CELTIC PRIDE, used in the service between Swansea to Cork.
01 Nov. 1992 renamed again in ROGALIN.
01 July 1999 under Bahamas registry.
Nov. 2002 Used in the service from Ystad to Swinoujscie.
16 July 2003 her last day in service.
17 July 2003 laid up at Gdansk.
Oct. 2003 sold by Abacus Co. Ltd. (Polish Baltic Shipping Co.), Bahamas to Indian shipbreakers, and arrived off Alang on 20 Nov. 2003, and arrived at the breakers yard on 25 Nov. 2003.
