PAPUAN CHIEF (II) 1991

Built as a container vessel under yard No 1357 by Miho Zosensho, Shimizu, Japan for the China Navigation Co. Ltd. (John Swire & Sons), Hong Kong.
31 October 1990 launched as the PAPUAN CHIEF.
Tonnage 7.914 grt, 10.683dwt, dim. 129.8 x 22.2 x 8.40m. (draught).
Powered by one 7-cyl. Mitsui B&W 7L42MC MK3 diesel8.120 bhp., speed 16.5 knots. One bow and stern thruster.

Capacity for 725 TEU’s containers.
February 1991 delivered.

Used by the Chief Container Services in conjunction with the Pacific Forum Line.
1999 Renamed CAPITAINE TASMAN.
2001 Renamed again PAPUAN CHIEF.
May 2005 lengthened 10.350 grt, 5.802 net, 13.557 dwt. dim. 158.05 x 22.0 x 11.00m., draught 7.98m.
Container capacity 981 TEU’s.

On the stamp is she depict before lengthening.

Kiribati 1992 75c sg 393, scott 598 (she is not the PAPUAN CHIEF built in 1977, she did not carry any crane’s., a lot of sources mix this two vessels up.)

2009 As given by http://www.equasis.org Same owner, and name. IMO No. 8901705 still under Hong Kong registry.

2015 Renamed in MICRONESIAN CHIEF.
2018 Renamed in FORUM SAMOA4.
2018 Broken up at Alang, work began 01 August 2020 by Atam Manohar Ship Breaker.
