To commemorate their victory in the Arab-Israeli War in 1967 the Jewish state issued a set of three stamps, the 40a value showing a ship passing through the Straits of Tiran, It is a somewhat crude representation of an illustration in the folder specially put out by the Philatelic Services, Jerusalem, for this stamp issue. The illustration depicts the Dolphin in the Straits of Tiran, flying the Israeli flag. It is the silhouette of this vessel that seems to be that shown on the stamp. There have been several vessels of this name of course, that on the stamp design apparently being one listed in the American Shipping Register as the Dolphin II, ex-Dolphin, ex-Arion, ex-Hamno, ex-Nusken, built by Blyth D.D. and S.B. Her gross tonnage is 2,431; 1,377 net on dimensions 317 ft. 4 in. x 46 ft. 3 ins x 18 ft. 2 ins. and her first owners were Wahi and Company, (Skibs A/S Randi), of Oslo.
