Built as a cargo vessel under yard No 134 by A/S Kjøbenshavns Flydedok og Skibsværft, Copenhagen for A/S D/S Vesterhavet (J. Lauritzen), Esbjerg, Denmark.
28 April 1917 launched as the KAREN.
Tonnage 1.207 gross, 731 net, 1.960 dwt., dim. 239.9 x 35.7 x 17.3ft.
Powered by one 3-cyl. triple expansion steam engine, 544 ihp., manufactured by builder, speed 8 knots.
04 June 1917 delivered.

08 July 1918 sold to A/S Dampskibsselskabet Progress (Marius Nielsen & Søn, managers), Copenhagen not renamed.

06 August 1944 when lying in Harburg, Germany during an Allied air attack heavily damaged. The forward part sank, and the engine room and boiler room were flooded.
After she was salvaged and repaired again in service.
27 February 1958 transferred to A/S Dampskibsselskabet Mariustramp (Marius Nielsen & Søn, managers), Copenhagen.
12 June 1958 Sold to Vangelistria Cia. Maritima Ltda, (N.J. Nomikos.) Puerto Limon, Costa Rica and renamed VANGELISTRIA.
1959 Transferred to Lebanese Registry.
1961 Sold to Kheireddine Abdul-Wahhab & Sons, Tripoli, Lebanon and renamed RIDA.
December 1973 sold to Yugoslavia, and scrapping commenced the same year in Split by Brodopas.
