
Built as a gunboat for the US Navy on the yard of Canadian Vickers Ltd., Montreal, Canada.
30 April 1943 launched as PG-108.
12 August 1943 transferred to the Royal Navy under Lend Lease, renamed HMS LOSSIE, named after a river in northeastern Scotland. One of the River class frigates.
Displacement, 1.418 standard, 2.160 ton full load. Dim. 301.3 x 36.5 x 7ft. (draught)
Powered by two vertical triple expansion 8-cyl engines, 5.500 hp, speed 20 knots. Bunker capacity 650 tons.
Armament: 3 – 3inch AA guns, 3 – 40mm AA, 2 – 20mm AA. 1 spigot mortar Hedgehog. Depthcharges.
Crew 140.
1943 Completed.
After completion used in the North Atlantic, but can not find anything on her career there.
1944 Was she in the Indian Ocean, when the freighter passengerliner NELLORE of the Eastern and Australian Steam Ship Co was torpedoed on 29 June 1944 by the Japanese submarine I-8 in position 07 51S 75 20E on a voyage from Bombay to Fremantle. The HMS LOSSIE rescued 112 survivors of the NELLORE after one week in a position near the Chagos Archipelago, and land them at Addu Atoll.
28 January 1946 at Boston handed back to US Navy. Sometimes later struck from the Naval register.
13 November 1946 Sold to Cadio Compania de Navegacion SA, Panama and renamed TETI.
Managed by G.Sigalas Sons, Piraeus, Greece after she was converted for mercantile use as a freighter in 1947.
Tonnage 1.742 gross, 629 net.
1955 Sold to Typaldos Brothers SS Co., Ltd., Piraeus, renamed ADRATIKI, under Greek registry used from Piraeus for coastal voyages on the Greek coast with cargo and passengers.
(Typaldos Brothers got bankrupt in 1966, and their fleet was laid up.)
While laid up at Perama, Greece, during a strong gale, she broke her moorings in the afternoon of 15 January 1968.
She drifted ashore at Drapetzona, and sank by the stern in Keratsine Road during the evening at 22.20 the next day.
Sinking around 12 hours later in a position of 37 56.30N 23 36,48E.
