Built as a ro-ro cargo vessel under yard No 313 by Uljanik at Pola. Yugoslavia for the Russian Government.
11 July 1977 keel laid down.
25 February 1978 launched as the GEROI PLEVNY, one sister the GEROI SHIPKI.
Tonnage 10.095 grt, 4.585 net, 12.889 dwt., dim. 184.21 x 26.76 x 9.0m. draught 7.4m. length bpp. 170.0m.
Powered by two 10-cyl. B&W/Uljanik engines, two shafts, speed 19.5 knots maximum, service speed 15 knots.
1680 Meter length of railways.
Can carry 108 wagons or 90 trailers with a length of 16 meter or 900 Eurosize cars.
Berths for 50 passengers.
07 February 1979 completed.
She is capable to load cargo via a starboard ramp, and has reinforced decks for carrying special vehicles.
First used in the service between Ilyichevsk, Ukraine and Varna, Bulgaria, but after the disintegration of the Soviet Union was she transferred to Ukrainian flag.
When cargo supply between these two ports decreased, she was transferred to the service between Ilyichevsk and Poti, Georgia.
